Logistics firm chooses new Getronics site to host crucial systems

UK logistics firm Bibby Distribution has signed a three-year contract to relocate its recovery data centre to IT services firm Getronics’ newly enhanced site in Runcorn.

The data centre will provide a range of services to the head office and national branch network – including processing the distribution schedules for a fleet that travels in excess of 30 million miles a year.

The logistics firm’s IT infrastructure is vital to ensuring its fleet and around 2 million square feet of warehousing space are efficiently utilised. Bibby Distribution also required a secure facility that was able to fulfil their expected growth. Getronics is providing the company with a brand new, highly secure environment with the space to expand into.

“IT provides us with an edge over the competition and our clients and prospects are increasingly wanting to check out our technical credentials. We needed to ensure that in relocating our recovery data centre we could still rest assured that our data would be safe, secure and available. Getronics understood this and its Runcorn operation is ideally suited to our needs,” said Robert Lee, IT Director Bibby Distribution.

This is the first deal since Getronics completed its latest four-month, £1 million investment in its Runcorn facility. As part of the refresh Getronics has expanded its capacity by another 20 per cent.
