Press Release - Getronics leads the way in Windows 7 Deployments

IT Services Company removes common deployment blockers to release the value of current and future IT investment

Getronics UK has announced the latest developments to its Infrastructure Optimisation processes to help organisations in the public and private sector make a smooth transition to new Microsoft technologies, such as Windows 7. Getronics Infrastructure Optimisation will help private and public sector organisations across the UK remove the common blockers of deployment for Windows 7 when it becomes available later this year.

Capitalising upon its considerable expertise and long working relationship with Microsoft, Getronics will efficiently deploy and manage Windows 7 for organisations transitioning to the new operating system (OS). Customers will be provided ‘zero-touch’ automated distribution of the OS with man hour time reduced to less than 15 minutes per user. The company’s approach will also mean that compatibility issues with existing applications are automatically addressed, providing end users with a seamless shift from their existing desktop environment to a new platform.

“Many of our customers continue to work with Windows XP and the upcoming launch is a considerable opportunity for them to capitalise upon their existing IT investment through Windows 7 but they need to start planning now,” said Dave Baldwin, MD Getronics UK and Ireland. “Reducing support costs and realising the value of existing and new IT investment are the biggest areas of focus in most enterprises, and the launch of Windows 7 is a great opportunity for them to deploy a more efficient and feature-rich operating system.”

Getronics is part of Microsoft’s early adopter programme, and is rolling out Windows 7 to its own workforce, of around 16,000 users. Getronics has partnered with Bytes, a Microsoft LAR, and is currently running a Windows 7 roadshow, co-sponsored by Microsoft. At these events Getronics will discuss how to recognise and remove traditional operating system adoption blockers for the deployment of Microsoft Windows 7. For more details, please visit:

Getronics will provide its customers with a structured, systematic approach to assessing their existing infrastructure and platform. This enables them to develop a highly tailored roadmap for implementation of Windows 7, focussed on reducing TCO and improving the return on investment.
