Getronics’ Data Centre Services

Getronics provides a range of services:

1. Colocation

Your equipment is housed in the Data Centre, saving you the cost of running your own facilities. Getronics provides secure floor space, power and cooling and Resilience (hotlinks to all three pages). There also optional services available with Getronics colocation including LAN connectivity and support, Remote Hands and Eyes, Media Management, Off-site media storage, caged racks and Network connectivity.

2. Hosting with technical assistance

This gives you the benefits of Colocation as well as the use of Getronics 24x7x365 operations staff and expertise, backup and media management and monitoring of availability.

3. Fully Managed Service

includes the provision of technical support services covering systems operations and administration, security, backups, workload scheduling, anti-virus, operating system upgrades / patching, etc.

4. Utility Based Computing

The utility environment allows a customer access to servers, storage and networks on demand, where that demand is captured through a portal environment and provisioned automatically. Getronics offers a range of services including Exchange, Sharepoint and Applications Hosting with charging based on a "pay as you go" on demand model.

5. Applications hosting

This is delivered on a shared or dedicated infrastructure with full support of the infrastructure and monitoring and management of the application set. Using virtualisation and other latest technology, bespoke client applications are seamlessly transferred to our secure data centre and hosting platform. All server, storage and network resources may be provided, with ongoing capacity management based on demand. The service offers superior performance and access with the attraction of a monthly utility pricing model.

Meeting your business needs

Business IT represents a substantial investment, and if there’s one technology guarantee, it’s change. As your business grows and evolves, so does your need for IT and services. Financing new environmental services and hardware, providing more resilience, managing new systems, provisioning adequate inhouse support are major challenges, all with a direct impact on your business bottom line. In a challenging UK economy Getronics’ outsourcing technology and services offer business a better approach – improving cashflow, maximising savings and improving reliability, security, performance and flexibility. Getronics’ Data Centre Services includes Co-location through to a fully managed service.

Disaster Recovery

This service provides customers with IT Service Continuity Management (ITSCM) Services commonly known as Disaster Recovery (DR) services. The service delivers ITSCM services for a wide range of server and storage using the Getronics’ specialist recovery centre in Lelystad, Netherlands providing a combination of managed server recovery, work area recovery, DR and managed back-up hosting facilities using dedicated teams. The facility houses a wealth of recovery expertise and infrastructure for a wide range of technologies. Regular DR testing is a crucial part of IT Service Continuity Management. Getronics project manages its client’s DR test activities; co-ordinating resources, identifying business objectives and success criteria, reporting on results against expected recovery objectives and making key recommendations. As part of the ITSCM service, Getronics develops IT service continuity plans and processes which are hosted via a share-point customer portal. The site is used as a central repository for processes followed during invocation and an expected recovery time-line, but also provides test documentation, contact and audit information.

Environmental Benefits of outsourcing your infrastructure to Getronics Data Centre

There are significant environmental advantages to outsourcing your Data Centre infrastructure to Getronics National Data Centre:

  • Getronics is currently CRC exempt, and does not have carbon taxes to pass on to customers.
  • Power is supplied from the local Rocksavage Power Plant, which is a combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP).
  • CHP generates electricity while capturing usable heat that is produced in this process. This contrasts with conventional ways of generating electricity, that waste huge amounts of heat.
  • Rocksavage is one of the cleanest facilities in the UK and the power produced is significantly cleaner than the Grid, with carbon emissions of 35% less than conventional Grid Power.
  • By 2013, we believe that 100% of the Data Centre’s power will be received from Energy from Waste (EFW) plants.
